Week one of the 2017 LC Bird Summer League came to a close with the most competitive action of the week. Check out some scores and standouts below!
Hopewell 60, Manchester 56 Hopewell used it's size to hold off a tough Manchester team to improve to 2-0 in the 2017 LC Bird Summer League. The Lancers dropped to 0-2. Elvin Edmunds led the Blue Devils with 20 points, while Jalen Jefferson posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Collin Harding kept Manchester in it, scoring 34 points on the contest, his second straight 30+ point performance in as many games. Prince George 79, Petersburg 75 Prince George overcame a late deficit to top Petersburg for their first win of the LCBSL. Petersbrug dropped to 2-1. Jeffery Robinson (19 points) and Tynan Bassett (13 points) led the Generals in scoring. Janell Danford (29 points) and D. Brown (19 points) paced Petersburg in a close loss. LC Bird 96, Thomas Dale 56 Bird defeated Thomas Dale to improve to 3-1 in the summer league, giving Dale its first loss to drop to 2-1. 2018 G Rahim Jenkins led five Bird players in double figures with 19 points. Quentin Elliott added 14 points, while 2019 F Jayden Payoute (14 points) and 2020 PG Tyler Henderson (8 points, 10 assists and six steals) were also standouts for the Skyhawks. 2018 PF Chris Ford added 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Senior PG C. Means led Thomas Dale with 15 points. Colonial Heights 64, Carver 57 Colonial Heights defeated Carver, 64-57. L. Minter (17 points), MJ McNeal (17 points) & M. Rose paced the Colonials. Steven Pettaway was the high scorer for Carver, posting 15 points.

Thomas Dale defeated Colonial Heights, 76-54 Wednesday evening. The Knights improved to 2-0, while Colonial Heights fell to 0-2. C. Means led Thomas Dale with 17 points in the victory. MJ McNeil posted 18 points for Colonial Heights. Matoaca JV 55, LC Bird JV 52 Matoaca used a second half comeback to top LC Bird JV, 55-52. The Warriors JV team moved to 2-0, while Bird dropped its first game to fall to 2-1. LC Bird 94, Matoaca 60 LC Bird improved to 2-1 with a 94-60 victory over Matoaca. The Warriors dropped to 0-2 in the LC Bird Summer League. The Skyhawks posted the highest scoring output of the summer league thus far. Rahim Jenkins led LC Bird with 22 points, 2020 G Quentin Elliott added 20 points, including four 3FG. Tyrek Williams chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds, while Jayden Payoutte added 10 points. Chris Ford pulled down 10 rebounds for Bird. Petersburg 68, Carver 22 Petersburg defeated Carver, 68-22 in the nightcap. The Crimson Wave improved to 2-0, while Carver fell to 0-2. Matoaca JV defeated Colonial Heights 64-51 Tuesday evening. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Bird JV 38, Carver 37 Bird JV topped Carver 38-37 on the 6:00 p.m. match-up to improve to 2-0. Rising sophomore Rodney Roane scored a layup at the end of regulation to lead the Skyhawks to victory. Sincere Clark was another standout for Bird, while Zach Keller led the way for Carver with 16 points. LC Bird 87, Prince George 83 LC Bird (1-1) beat Prince George (0-1), 87-83 in the 7:00 contest. The Skyhawks were led by rising seniors Tyrek Williams and Rahim Jenkins, who both posted 27 points on the night. Junior Corbin Slayton chipped in 16 points, while Williams added 13 rebounds to lead Bird. Savonte Chappell (16 points) Jajour' Lambert (23 points) and Doryan Hall (18 points, 6 3FG) led the way for the Royals in their first summer league game. Meadowbrook 69, Manchester 63 MBK defeated Manchester, 69-63 in the nightcap of day two. The Monarchs improved to 1-0, while the Lancers fell to 0-1. Alphonso Mason led MBK With 25 points. Colin Harding scored a summer league high 37 in defeat for Manchester. The 2017 LC Bird Summer League kicked off with an action packed first day of games. Tailk Warren added 16 points for the Crimson Wave. 2019 PF Tyrese Tingle paced Matoaca with 18 points and 9 rebounds. LC Bird JV 40, Meadowbrook JV 39 Rodney Roane led Bird's JV squad to an opening day win, by scoring 20 points. Hopwell 74, LC Bird 54 Elvin Edmond guided Hopewell to start the summer league, scoring 22 points in the win. Malik Jefferson added 13 points and eight rebounds. Rahim Jenkins paced LC Bird with 22 points, while Corbin Slayton chipped in 18 points for the Skyhawks.
